Detailed description of laboratory infrastructure, instruments, and hardware

Beside the classical instrumentation intended for the measurement of fluid properties, flow parameters, and thermal phenomena, cmefe also has a wide array of tools for the visualization of subsonic and supersonic flows.

In order to successfully carry out industrial and research projects, cmefe also has a rich array of tesbeds and equipment, including:

- A large subsonic wind tunnel with maximum flow speeds of about 80 m/s (290
km/h) and a test section of substantial size (1.5 m x 2 m in cross section, 5 m in length).

- A calibration wind tunnel with low turbulence and flow speeds up to 80 m/s (290 km/h).

- An Eiffel-type wind tunnel with volume flux of 20 cubic-meters per second.

- A supersonic wind tunnel that allows flow studies around profiles up to Mach 2.4 (roughly 3000 km/h), with a test section of 0.12 m x 0.08 m.

- Force balances of various load capacity.

- Calibration room for force balance calibration.

-
A 3D scanner that provides a 3D CAD description of models.

- A testing stand for hydraulic machinery.

- A towing tank.

- High performances computing facilities for flows and thermal processes simulations.
